Enjoying Your Youth
John 10:10 says, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” Many youth are being subjected to robbery of the enjoyment and development of their lives. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Your life as a youth should be spent in allowing God through His Word and your parent(s) to blossom into who God created you to be. Preparation for adulthood should also be taking place. That means going through the developmental process spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically as designed by God. Your job is to get an education and participate in activities that will challenge you to grow spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically. This is God’s plan, purpose, and will for youth. He loves the youth so very much, and understands everything concerning youth.

Some young people have been robbed of their innocence because of sexual activity resulting in pregnancy and/or a sexually transmitted disease. Drug and alcohol abuse which causes a loss of mind control steals a sense of purpose from its young victims, leaving them vulnerable and without hope. The joy that should be experienced by boys and girls is snatched away by a false sense of toughness needed for survival. Low self-esteem that says you can’t, when God says that you can, weakens the boldness needed to be all God desires you to be. Teens desiring an adult lifestyle which brings on adult problems you’re not developmentally ready for, causes undue stress. These are just a few circumstances that interrupt the enjoyment of being a youth.

As Christians you should be an example of how to live an enjoyable life as God intended for youth, and not following the latest trend. In seeing Gods blessings on your life, your peers will notice you because you stand out from the rest of the crowd, and they will desire the same blessings on their lives. It’s all about choice. Will you choose God’s way or your way?
